Kayser Baird has taken the lead in the industry and has started sending policy holders “Intelligent Alerts” about possible weaknesses in their insurance cover.

Repudiated or underpaid claims are the single biggest source of frustration for policy holders, and one of the biggest challenges for insurance companies. It gives insurance a bad name, and is a major contributor to the high “churn” in the insurance industry – when policy holders move their insurance frequently from one insurer to another.

Insurance companies do not actually want their clients to be paid out less than what they expected when they claim. It causes them to lose business. Clearly the insurance company cannot be expected to pay out for something that is not insured on the policy – but more can be done by the insurers and specifically by the broker to make sure that people are covered better when they need to claim.

At Kayser Baird we invested significantly into upgrading our technology in 2012, and we are now starting to leverage off this technology and deliver innovations to our clients. For the first time we are sending policy holders personalised alerts forewarning them of possible weaknesses in their insurance cover. This enables our clients to make informed decisions about their approach to managing their risk, and to be aware of where they are covered and where they are not covered.

When your circumstances change and your insurance stays the same, it can be a recipe for disaster and people slip into situations where they are under-insured or not insured at all for certain belongings. Kayser Baird is leading the way by proactively communicating with clients about the state of their insurance policy.

In February 2013 we started sending out our first “Intelligent Alerts” to policy holders. These are specific communications to our policy holders that have certain cover missing from their policies. It allows our clients to be reminded about the structure of their policy in a meaningful way – the cover that they chose not to take last year might be cover that they need to take today.

Power Surge can cause massive damage to your electronic equipment - many of our client do not take this cover out.

Did you know that if lightning damages your electrical appliances you are covered under house contents, but if the cause of the damage is power surge and not lightning then you need a special extension on your policy in order to be covered?

Many of these policy extensions are relatively inexpensive and people frequently leave them off their policy in the hope that they will never need them.

If you would like to discuss your personal policy with us or review your need for the optional extensions available, please contact us.
